AOL Is Shutting Down Its Dial-Up Internet Service, Which Somehow Still Existed
But that dial-up sound effect will live rent-free in my head forever.

We're fast approaching the end of an era. AOL, a company I hadn't realized still existed, but absolutely does, is preparing to shut down its dial-up service, which I hadn't realized still existed, but absolutely does. I'm not too well-versed in the regional specifics, so maybe their "AOL Dialer" (which requires an "AOL Advantage Plan" membership) has been some kind of lifesaver in certain parts of the world. I'm kind of doubtful.
