A lot more work goes into remastering old maps than you'd probably expect.
Battlefield has been around for so long that it wouldn't make a lot of sense for DICE to just completely forget about this past, especially when it comes to elements of certain games that fans loved. Thankfully, once upon a time, one bright cookie decided that remastering maps could be a way to tug on the heart strings of longtime fans of the series, while boosting the amount of stuff for their current game.
