Hollow Knight was released in 2017 and quickly gained a positive reputation for Team Cherry, the developer. It was a new breed of Metroidvania that combined difficult Soulslike combat and punishments to the genre while also being a bit more balanced. That’s why, when Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced in 2019, the community went wild.
