Plants vs. Zombies is a formative tower defence game for many, sneaking the basic concepts across our lawns so that the Romero-inspired undead might munch on our brains and let the moreish genre take hold. Its simplistic yet novel format, ramping up in intensity as we hunker down to defend our homes with sunflowers and peashooters, is cartoonish enough to bottle the casual PopCap ethos, but complex enough to reel in even die-hard tower defence fans.
