If you read the title of this piece, and you are coming in here mad about Hollow Knight catching a stray, let me start by extending an olive branch of sorts: you don't come for a game because it is irrelevant - you come for the king. Team Cherry's Hollow Knight has established itself as the big dog of the genre at this point, and this list is here to offer a lineup of challengers who I think have what it takes to take that crown.
