If it outperforms Fantastic Four: First Steps, it will be the first time a DC movie has beaten every Marvel movie in a year since 2008.
Fantastic Four: First Steps and Superman have been squaring off in the first evenly matched box office battle between Marvel and DC for a very long time. Not only does Superman appear to have won that battle for DC, but it looks like it may be the highest-grossing superhero movie of the year, something a DC movie hasn't achieved in a year where a Marvel movie has been released since 2008.
